Talent Path Speaks to SIA Conference
Talent Path Julie Olson, University Ventures Ryan Craig & AYA Healthcare April Hansen speak to SIA Conference Investing In Talent Development For The New-Collar Workforce
HOUSTON, TX – February 27, 2019 – Talent Path, a leading provider of last-mile education for early career talent, announced today that staffing industry innovators Julie Olson, Talent Path Vice President, Ryan Craig, University Ventures Managing Director and April Hansen, Aya Healthcare EVP, spoke to the Staffing Industry Analyst (SIA) Executive Forum conference on the value and importance of investing in talent development for the new-collar workforce.
The labor supply/demand imbalance in the technology space continues to worsen. AI, automation and organizational transformation are progressively altering the work landscape and therefore the skill sets needed by employers. Workers with higher cognitive, social and emotional, and technological skills are in greater demand.
“More and more technology jobs go unfilled every single day, stifling economic progress while university graduates are not properly prepared for the roles at hand. We have to solve for this imbalance with innovative approaches such as the ‘train then staff’ solution,” said Talent Path Vice President, Julie Olson. “As this talent scarcity grows, new and creative methods are absolutely required.”
With the unprecedented number of available technology positions and the growing shortage of incoming technology professionals, the panel discussed specific approaches to developing the new-collar workforce and addressing the technology talent skills gap.
“America’s skills gap is a brake on our economy and individual opportunity, and growing larger with each passing month. Rather than blaming employers or our educational ecosystem, this session cast a light on a new set of employer-centric intermediaries like Talent Path and Aya Healthcare, with uniquely attractive value propositions for both candidates and employers,” said Ryan Craig, University Ventures Managing Director. “I was happy to speak with the staffing industry about the promise of these new models to close the skills gap.”
