The employee in this position has responsibility for designing, modeling, developing, and supporting Database Management Systems.  Principal responsibilities include ensuring data integrity, data security and performance of production databases.  This employee develops database and warehousing designs across multiple platforms and computing environments as well as an overall data architecture that supports the information needs of the Client in a flexible but secure environment.  Performs related duties as required.

TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
  • Leads the data communication implementation portion of projects
  • Implements and supports data marts/warehouses to meet business requirements
  • Assists with the design and development of software in support of new application deployment
  • Assists the applications development team in the selection of appropriate technologies to satisfy user/system requirements
  • Provides input and support for usability test plans
  • Coordinates with the application analyst's team to install application software and database connectivity and assist with developing testing prototypes
  • Defines with the technical infrastructure team the hardware, network and OS environment to fulfill enterprise applications needs
  • Manages user problems within assigned application systems area of responsibility
  • Performs unit testing and participates in system testing and associated validations of business applications, as required
  • Analyzes business process and data requirements to develop data models and specifications, and assists
    with the design of data driven application solutions
  • Ensures solutions are designed to scale and grow over time as data volume grows and user requirements evolve
  • Installs and monitors databases to meet application requirements within accepted standards
  • Develops database backup processes to ensure proper recovery capability
  • Develops scripts and implements tools to ensure proper functioning of databases
  • Develops and document standards and processes to ensure that common practices are maintained across the production environment
  • Performs any maintenance functions and database upgrades to ensure data integrity
  • Design and implementation of a repeatable ETL process
  • Creates and maintain customized database reports and performs data analysis
  • Provides key data recommendations and best practices solutions to project teams as required
  • Ensures databases adhere to standard security policies as defined in the Client Standards.
 
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIRMENTS:
  • 3+ years of hands-on administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 – 2017
  • Experience maintaining multiple large OLTP and OLAP database systems consisting of normalized and de-normalized data and table structures
  • Experience with database and SQL Server performance tuning
  • Experience implementing and administering SQL Server Reporting Services
  • Experience implementing and administering SQL Server Integration Services
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining data warehouses and data marts
  • Experience developing and maintaining SQL Server Integration Services packages to populate data warehouses and data marts
  • Experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining SQL Server snapshot and transactional replication
  • Working knowledge of Windows Server 2012+ Operating Systems
  • Ability to organize personal workload
  • Ability to participate in a technical environment
  • Ability to write procedures and work instructions
  • Ability to effectively coordinate and communicate with internal and external customers/vendors
  • Ability to develop an understanding of client business processes, computing and application deployment, configuration, upgrade and integration needs
  • Team oriented with diagnostic, analytical and conceptual skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or closely related field and 3+ years of experience in software, database, and data warehouse design development and maintenance.
